Reading So Lit
Welcome to the official home of Reading So Lit , a new brand of supplemental literacy programs from Barbershop Books® – winner of the National Book Foundation’s Innovations in Reading Prize. Our ground-breaking early literacy programming integrates social-emotional learning, culturally responsive teaching, and imaginative play to support diverse, equitable, and inclusive reading experiences in school and at home.
This new approach to functional literacy includes digital lesson plans, interactive slide decks, and hands-on activities that examine the real-world behaviors, habits, and interests of young readers. The program content features diverse illustrated characters with whom young children relate. As Reading So Lit participants explore what it means to be a reader, they investigate their own reading preferences and those of their peers.
